“Miami Vice”: These stars are in talks for the remake

Los Angeles. The action series "Miami Vice" featuring detectives James "Sonny" Crockett (Don Johnson) and Ricardo Tubbs (Philip Michael Thomas) was a huge hit and cult classic in the 1980s. Now, Hollywood stars Austin Butler (34) and Michael B. Jordan (38) could play the two police officers who hunted gangsters in Miami in a movie.
Butler (“Elvis”) and Jordan (“Blood & Sinners”) are in talks for a planned remake directed by Joseph Kosinski (“Top Gun: Maverick”), report the US industry magazines “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter”.
Casual quips, a glossy look, and the sex appeal of the main actors were the hallmarks of the American television series "Miami Vice." It ran in the US from 1984 to 1989 and became popular in Germany from 1986 onward. The film reboot, directed by Kosinski, is scheduled for release in summer 2027. The director most recently brought the acclaimed racing film "F1" starring Brad Pitt to the big screen.
In 2006, there was already a feature film version of "Miami Vice" starring Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx. Crime master Michael Mann ("Heat," "Ferrari") gave the film a more menacing tone compared to the lighthearted tone of the TV series.
